Ossie Davis

Ossie Davis, an actor distinguished for roles dealing with human rights and racial injustice on stage, screen and in real life - and perhaps best known as the husband and partner of actress Ruby Dee - has died on Feb. 4, 2005 at the age of 87.

Feb 24 to March 13 - Ripped from the headlines, fact and fiction blur in this timely story of newsroom ambition. When an affluent white inner-city school teacher is murdered, young African-American journalist Yvonne thinks she has found the story to launch her career. But when her academic credentials come under fire so does her journalistic integrity and the truth about her story.

Boarshead Theatre presents The Story by Tracey Scott Wilson. Winner of the 2004 Kesselring Prize for playwriting and the 2004 Whiting Award. This is a joint production with the Plowshares Theatre Company. Call: 517-484-7805 or check out www.boarshead.org

Feb 20 - Soweto Gospel Choir at the MSU Wharton Center for Performing Arts at 4:00 pm. The 32-member Soweto Gospel Choir shares the vibrant and colorful culture of South Africa. Feb 26 - Mardi Gras 2005 hosted by the MSU Alumni Club of Mid Michigan and MSU Black Alumni, Inc. - Lansing Chapter from 7:00 PM to 12:30 A.M. at the Lansing Holiday Inn South ENjoy authentic Louisiana-style grub, Hurricanes (um, um, good!) beads and music by Root Doctor.
